How long do you think your car could last if you drove it to its bitter end? 100,000 miles? 200,000? A study by iSeeCars.com in 2022 found that while most cars can’t even reach the 200,000 miles mark, Toyota is coming out on top with its range, with half of the top 15 vehicles for longevity sitting pretty with the Toyota badge.
The study found that, of the top 20 cars for greatest potential lifespan, Toyota’s SUVs took their well-deserved top spots, with the Toyota Land Cruiser and Toyota Sequoia taking top and second place spots respectively, and by quite a significant margin. The Sequoia holds almost double the likelihood of the third place car – a Chevrolet Suburban – to reach over 200,000 miles, with the percentage of cars over 200,000 sitting at 14.2% compared to Chevy’s 6.6%. The first place Land Cruiser had an impressive 18.2% of cars over 200,000 miles.
Alongside the Land Cruiser and Sequoia, the following Toyota cars also made the list:
- 4Runner
- Tundra
- Avalon
- Prius
- Highlander Hybrid
- Sienna
With their cars able to reach such high mileage on a semi-regular basis, the Toyota High Mile Club was born, offering a way to celebrate the models out there that had covered and lasted for significant and impressive distances. The club offered a limited number of stickers for owners of Toyotas that had been driven over 150,000 miles, with different stickers for different distances. It included a bronze-tinted sticker for 150,000, a silver sticker for 200,000 miles and a gold-tinted sticker for 300,000 miles. There was even a green-tinted sticker for 500,000 miles, showing just how long Toyota vehicles were predicted to last.
At the time of writing, this club is still active and stickers are still available, however, they are only available on a first come first served basis. If your Toyota has reached such high mileage, it may be time to drop Toyota a picture of your odometer!
