Jaguar Land Rover Set To Open Three New Autonomous Car Hubs In Europe

Luxury vehicle manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover recently announced a huge step in their autonomous vehicle journey. As part of their partnership with Nvidia, a Silicon Valley AI company, they have just announced the opening of three new engineering hubs across Europe to develop and improve autonomous car technology.

These three new research centres will be opened in Bologna (Italy), Madrid (Spain) and Munich (Germany), offering Jaguar Land Rover three ideally located hubs for vehicle development. Each centre is set to be dedicated entirely to advanced driver assistance systems including autonomous driving, with artificial intelligence playing a part in it all.

These AI systems will come about through a suite of technology from Nvidia, including both hardware and software that will help form the basis of “the next-generation automated driving systems” and AI services.

Jaguar Land Rover signed a deal with the American tech giant last year and has since taken huge steps towards a tech-ready future for their vehicles. The partnership and the move to create new centres align with CEO Thierry Bollore’s Reimagine strategy. Announcing the strategy back in 2021, it was laid out in the following statement:

“Jaguar Land Rover is unique in the global automotive industry. Designers of peerless models, an unrivalled understanding of the future luxury needs of its customers, emotionally rich brand equity, a spirit of Britishness and unrivalled access to leading global players in technology and sustainability within the wide Tata Group.”

“We are harnessing those ingredients today to reimagine the business, the two brands and the customer experience of tomorrow. The Reimagine strategy allows us to enhance and celebrate that uniqueness like never before. Together, we can design an even more sustainable and positive impact on the world around us.”

The creation of these tech hubs is just a small step in their future plans. It’s expected that the technology developed in these hubs will be used in future Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles as part of the electrification and enhancement of the luxury already present in both brands. For Jaguar and Land Rover fans, this means the potential for autonomous driving sooner than we might think and at the very least, AI-integrated safety and driving assistance systems that make the driving experience a far more relaxing and rewarding one.
