Is your Skoda showing any of these?
Skoda DSG gearboxes give plenty of warning before they fail. Caught early, most of these faults can be fixed with a targeted repair rather than a full replacement.
Judder pulling away
A shudder from a standstill or in slow traffic. A common sign of DSG clutch wear.
Flashing gear display
The gear letters flash on the dash. Usually a mechatronic unit or control fault.
Limp mode
The gearbox locks into one gear and cuts power to protect itself.
Jerky low-speed shifts
Rough changes between first, second and third, or a lurch when you lift off.
Clunks or knocking
A clunk when selecting Drive or Reverse, or knocking at low speed.
Loss of drive
The car won't move in Drive or Reverse. Stop driving it; we can talk you through collection or recovery.

A new gearbox isn't always the answer
Main dealer quotes for a replacement Skoda gearbox often run into thousands of pounds. In many cases the fault is a single part, such as the mechatronic unit or a clutch pack, that can be repaired or rebuilt for a fraction of that.
We run a full diagnostic first and only recommend what's needed, with a clear quote before any work begins.

Skoda gearbox repair FAQs
How much does a Skoda gearbox repair cost?
It depends on the fault. A targeted repair costs far less than a rebuild, and a rebuild costs far less than a new gearbox. We give you an initial estimate on the phone and a confirmed quote after diagnosis, before any work starts.
Why does my Skoda DSG judder when pulling away?
Judder from a standstill is usually down to wear in the DSG clutches, or a mechatronic fault affecting how they engage. A diagnostic will confirm which before any parts are replaced.
Can I keep driving with a gearbox warning light?
We don't recommend it. Driving on a known gearbox fault can turn a small repair into a full rebuild. If the car feels different or the warning is on, get it checked as soon as you can.
Can you collect my Skoda if it won't drive?
Yes. Tell us where the car is and whether it can be driven, and we'll explain the collection or recovery options. Collection and delivery is included on repairs over £1,500, subject to our terms.
Will the repair protect my existing warranty?
We fit OEM or manufacturer warranty-approved parts, and we work with major UK warranty providers. Let us know about your warranty at the start so we can help with the claim where your policy allows.
What guarantee do I get?
Every Skoda gearbox repair and rebuild is guaranteed for 12 months or 12,000 miles on parts and labour.
How long will my Skoda be off the road?
Diagnostic findings are usually ready within 2 to 3 days of collection. Repair time depends on the fault and parts, and we'll give you a time estimate with your quote.
