Is your Mercedes showing any of these?
Mercedes 7G-Tronic, 9G-Tronic and DCT gearboxes usually give plenty of warning before they fail. Caught early, most of these faults can be fixed with a targeted repair rather than a full replacement.
Harsh or clunky shifts
A thump on downshifts as you slow down, or a jolt into Drive or Reverse.
Limp mode
The gearbox locks into one gear and cuts power to protect itself.
Gearbox warning message
A transmission fault message on the dash, often with limp mode.
Judder pulling away
A shudder from a standstill or in slow traffic. A common sign of clutch wear on 7G-DCT and 8G-DCT gearboxes.
Oil leaks
Gearbox oil under the car or around the gearbox electrical connector.
Loss of drive
The car won't move in Drive or Reverse. Stop driving it; we can talk you through collection or recovery.
Not sure what's wrong? Describe the symptoms and a technician will tell you what it's likely to be.

Main dealer quotes for a replacement Mercedes-Benz gearbox often run into thousands of pounds. In many cases the fault is a single part, such as a conductor plate, speed sensor or valve body, that can be repaired or rebuilt for a fraction of that.
We run a full diagnostic first and only recommend what's needed, with a clear quote before any work begins.
Typical dealer route

Mercedes-Benz gearbox repair FAQs
How much does a Mercedes gearbox repair cost?
It depends on the fault. A targeted repair costs far less than a rebuild, and a rebuild costs far less than a new gearbox. We give you an initial estimate on the phone and a confirmed quote after diagnosis, before any work starts.
Can you repair a Mercedes 7G-Tronic conductor plate fault?
Yes. Conductor plate and speed sensor faults are common on 7G-Tronic gearboxes and can often be repaired without replacing the whole gearbox. We diagnose the exact fault first and quote you before any work begins.
Can I keep driving with a gearbox warning light?
We don't recommend it. Driving on a known gearbox fault can turn a small repair into a full rebuild. If the car feels different or the warning is on, get it checked as soon as you can.
Can you collect my Mercedes if it won't drive?
Yes. Tell us where the car is and whether it can be driven, and we'll explain the collection or recovery options. Collection and delivery is included on repairs over £1,500, subject to our terms.
Will the repair protect my existing warranty?
We fit OEM or manufacturer warranty-approved parts, and we work with major UK warranty providers. Let us know about your warranty at the start so we can help with the claim where your policy allows.
What guarantee do I get?
Every Mercedes gearbox repair and rebuild is guaranteed for 12 months or 12,000 miles on parts and labour.
How long will my Mercedes be off the road?
Diagnostic findings are usually ready within 2 to 3 days of collection. Repair time depends on the fault and parts, and we'll give you a time estimate with your quote.
